One of our favorite things to do when we visit Sioux Falls is to patronize our favorite restaurants. A new discovery made on our last visit was Lam's Vietnamese Restaurant. Hands down the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, and that seemed to be the consensus view among our entire group.
We'll definitely be visiting Lam's again on our next trip back to Sioux Falls.

Summer Trip to South Dakota Part 2
No trip to Sioux Falls is complete without a trip to the falls of the Big Sioux River. I swam there regularly as a teenager.
The following photos are just a small sampling of those taken at the falls:

Happy New Year!
One of my favorite New Years was the one spent at South Dakota's Terry Peak in 1988.
Michele and I met up with two of my siblings and their girlfriends, along with my mother and stepfather for a ski weekend over the New Year's holiday. On New Year's eve, while standing at the base of the mountain, I managed to capture two iconic photographs of my mother and stepfather toasting the coming new year:
It was the perfect ski trip. The snow was perfect, the temperatures were perfect. Everyone had a fantastic time.
Here are a few shots of the skiing action:
This final shot is of Michele. She refrained from skiing on this trip due to advice from her doctor, but ignored that advice on later ski trips:

Things Were Very Different Back Then
In 1977, I was an 8th grade student at Patrick Henry Junior High School in Sioux Falls, SD. Occasionally, I would bring my camera to school with me, and if I got lucky, I would get a classic shot of my friends, kind of like this one:

Oddly enough, we were part of the popular in-crowd. Today, we'd probably be shunned by our peers, and committed by the authorities.

Christmas in Sioux Falls
On Christmas eve, my younger brother and I made the 9.5 hour drive to Sioux Falls. And it would have taken us 9.5 hours to get to Sioux Falls had I been paying attention and not accidentally headed South on I-35 for 60 miles before noticing that I was on the wrong road.
Even with the extra two hours of travel time, it was a fun drive, and an all around great trip. We got to see a lot of people we hadn't seen in a while.

Grandpa, Grandma and Josh Pay a Visit
We received visitors from South Dakota over Memorial Weekend. We had fun getting caught up, and spending quality time together. Here are a few of the gathering shots, I'll follow up later with some shots of the kids going wild.
